Solvent Inks

Solvent inks may be used for offset or inkjet printing. Using Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) with high vapor pressures, they require special venting and proper disposal of expended solvent. The chief advantage of solvent inks is they enable printing on uncoated substrates which are used to produce vehicle graphics, billboards and outdoor banners. Aqueous inks, on the other hand, must print on substrates that have a special ink receiver coating. Solvent ink is more durable but with a more detrimental effect on the environment.

For offset printing, Reactive Imaging uses soy-based inks containing no VOCs. In-house aqueous inkjet printing is offered. Projects that require solvent-ink print are outsourced to trade vendors.
