Bronzing

Bronzing or gloss differential (sometimes confused with metameric failure) occurs when light is directly reflected from a print to the viewer resulting in a darkened bronzed reflections in inked areas. Glossy paper and various shades of color reflect light differently resulting in an undesirable appearance.

Techniques used to prevent or minimize bronzing:

  • use matte paper
  • apply film laminate
  • include liquid gloss enhancer during or after printing
